Thanksgiving Weekend

For Thanksgiving, we made a short 2-day trip down to Val D’Or and Rouyn-Noranda.

Although J. would have rather stayed at home, I’d been itching and craving to go the city. You can take the me out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of me! We did a few chores, got a haircut and picked up groceries and faux meat. We also bought a raclette ($100) at Stokes and will be throwing a party next weekend with a few coworkers.

On Saturday night, after sushi dinner, we went bowling and on Sunday, took J. to see Parc National d’Aiguebelle. I’d gone once by myself, but wanted to do the suspension bridge trail with J. It was a decent 1.5-hour workout that required you to watch every step you made up and down. My calves are a bit sore today.

It was nice just to be in the city, as there are a lot of basic things we live without in Waskaganish. Walking on the sidewalk rather than gravel, taking an evening stroll where there are streetlamps and being able to go to more than one restaurant was pretty exciting.

If only it wasn’t a 6-hour drive to the next town!
