Learning About Turkey

This afternoon, I was trying to find more information on the country Turkey, for my upcoming trip at the end of April. We don’t have TV, so I scoured iTunes and found a series of free video clips by Rick Steves. Unfortunately, the downloading process was so arduously slow that, in my frustration, I caved and just order the DVD ($20 including shipping).

Yes, I will have to wait a few weeks for it to arrive up here, but this is what you must get used to, living in such an isolated place. Otherwise, if both of us are using the internet, imagine sitting in front of YouTube, trying to watch a 3-minute video over 10 minutes. It’s pretty awful.*

I suppose, in the meantime, I will cuddle up with both my Lonely Planet guidebook and phrasebook. Books never buffer!
