An interesting study came out in the news this week: non-celiac gluten sensitivity may actually not exist at all.
Not that I’ve ever tried to go gluten-free, but I have heard myself saying that gluten might be harming me, when in fact, it’s just a nocebo effect talking. Since reading the article, I’m wondering if my issues with gas actually stem from FODMAPs – fermentable oligo-di-monosaccharides and polyols – which are commonly present in glutenous substances. I am considering cutting out food sources with high concentrations of FODMAP to see if anything changes. This article from the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation explains it very clearly if you’ve not heard of it.
Perhaps I’ll try this out as a July goal?
